Music Concerts at St Silas
Music at St Silas is a community outreach activity of Shac Community which stages at least four concerts of fine music each year. These concerts are offered to the wider community to provide quality live entertainment in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Usually there is an opportunity to meet with the artists over refreshments.
The venue for the concerts is St Silas Anglican church at North Balwyn which has a well maintained Yamaha grand piano and a reputation as a venue with an outstanding acoustic.
Featured artists are drawn from the ranks of Melbourne or visiting professional musicians and the programs feature classical music presented by soloists or a variety of ensembles such as piano trios, string quartets. woodwind/strings etc.
A data base of those interested in attending concerts is maintained and a mail out with concert information is done about a month before each concert.
