Marketplace Ministry : Introduction

What is Marketplace Ministry?
A local-church based ministry enabling Christians to connect faith with work. Our main even for this year are two seminars in April, the first on April 19. This will cover a full range of issues relevant to being a Christina in the workplace. It is open to all ages and stages of workers.

What is our Mission?
To lead people into a mature relationship with Jesus - in the workplace.

What do we think about work and the Christian?

  • Work has value because it is part of God's original intention for humanity and will be part of our life in the new world, heaven (see Genesis 2:15 and Isaiah 65:21-23).
  • Work is frustrated by the disorder of sin. Yet it is part of the Christian's calling to live obediently (see Genesis 3:17-19 and 1 Thessalonians 4:11-12).
  • Faithful work in this age foreshadows work in the age to come when our productivity, creativity and effort will bless the world, humanity and be for God's glory (see Revelation 21:24-26).
  • Workplaces provide opportunity for the gospel to be communicated and for the words of the gospel to be given credence in the everyday lives of God's people. (see Colossians 4:2-6)

How do we operate?
St Hilary's & St Silas Church runs mid-week bible study groups where we encourage people to discuss and pray for work issues.

While we are based at St Hilary's & St Silas Church we welcome those from other churches and denominations who would like to be involved in Marketplace Ministry.

We seek to work in partnership with other workplace ministries.

Contact your congregation minister for more information.
