Each year St Hilary's & St Silas Anglican Church as a whole gives over $200,000 to organizations outside of our church community - both in Australia and overseas. These funds are allocated by the St Hilary's & St Silas Mission & Social Justice Board to specific organizations (eg. TEAR) that fit into one or more of four broad categories. These are:
- Christian aid and development
- Evangelism and church planting
- Justice advocacy
- Theological education.
In addition to this, funds are made available for congregations to use to grow mission partnerships with specific ministry partners.
The Children & Families Ministry congregations - 9am & 11am - have committed themselves to growing partnerships with
* Bush Church Aid (BCA)
* Scripture Union Victoria (SUV)
* Khalil Razmara & Persian Ministry
* Mandela Park Church - South Africa
* Evangelical Fellowship in the Anglican Communion (EFAC)

Scripture Union
Scripture Union Victoria is part of a global movement that began in 1867 and currently operates in over 130 countries.
Working with the churches, Scripture Union aims
a. to make God’s Good News known to children, young people and families and
b. to encourage people of all ages to meet God daily through the Bible and prayer so that they may come to personal faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, grow in Christian maturity and become both committed church members and servants of a world in need.
In Australia, SU operates in every state and territory and mobilises around thousands of volunteers each year to engage young people and families in holiday programs at beaches and in urban or rural townships, camps, secondary and primary schools, through sports, recreation, outdoor education and school chaplaincy.
SU produces Bible reading aids that meet the needs of all generations. SU also publishes a range of other ministry resources and books and operates a distribution network throughout Australia.

Mandela Park Church
Mandela Park Community Church is in the township of Khayalitsha on the outskirts of Capetown, South Africa. Rev Siegfried Ngubane leads this growing church. Rev Ngubane and the Mandela Park Church Community have a heart for spreading the gospel and for church planting. There are now four locations that meet on a Sunday. The Mandela Park Church Community is also instrumental in running a bible school which serves other churches in Khayalitsha and surrounding townships. There is a deep need for the training of Godly church leaders with a firm grounding in the scriptures.
Barnabas Fund
So, what makes Barnabas Fund different from other Christian organisations which deal with persecution?
- We help by channelling money from Christians through Christians to Christians:
- We are equal partners with the persecuted Church, whose leaders often help shape our overall direction.
- We seek to inform and enable Christians in the West to respond to the growing challenge of Islam to the Church, society and mission in our own countries.
- We believe in the clear Biblical teaching that all Christians should treat all people of all faiths with love and compassion, even those who seek to persecute them.
- We believe in the power of prayer to change people’s lives and situations, either through grace to endure or through deliverance from the suffering. We therefore seek to facilitate global intercession for the persecuted Church by providing comprehensive prayer materials.
- We act as champions for the persecuted Church, to be their voice – making their needs known to Christians and the injustices of their persecution known to governments and international bodies.
